KAPIT: Contractors who have been awarded the tender for phases II and III of the Song Waterfront project have been reminded to complete the task on schedule.

Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said there should be no excuse for works not to be completed as planned as the two projects are not considered to be major.

“I don’t foresee any complications in implementing the projects and I hope they are completed on time. There should be no delay or excuse, such as blaming the weather.

“As contractors, you should know the situation on the ground and factor in things such as the weather prior to bidding for the project,” he said during a meeting to hand over the site for the projects, here recently.

He also reminded the successful bidders to work closely with the district office, local authority, Sarawak Rivers Board, Land and Survey Department and the community to ensure smooth implementation.

The meeting saw Nanta witness the handing-over of documents and project sites by Kapit District Council secretary Jabang Juntan to the successful bidders.

Works for Song Waterfront Phase II was awarded to RizQiy Engineering while Phase III, to Tuchong Naning Sdn Bhd. The consultant for both projects is BL Consultant.

The RM4-million Song Waterfront project, upon completion, will create a new landmark for the district. Phase II is scheduled for completion on Oct 31, 2019 while Phase III, on Jan 30, 2020.

Among those present during the meeting were Deputy Walikota Lawrence Listin Baling, Song district officer Jacklyn August and Kapit District Council assistant secretary Kelimbik Sibat.
